EVCS Partners with Hubject to Expand and Simplify Access to Public Charging for Electric Vehicle Drivers on the West Coast

EVCS will use Hubject’s Intercharge platform to enable roaming for EV charging across its West Coast charging network.

LOS ANGELES January 6, 2023 - Hubject, provider of the world’s largest eRoaming network, and EVCS, one of the largest electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging network operators on the US West Coast, are pleased to announce the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, signaling their intention to enter into a new strategic partnership. EVCS plans to work with Hubject as a preferred, non-exclusive roaming partner, relying on Hubject’s Intercharge platform to offer roaming services. EVCS will be one of the first Charge Point Operators (CPOs) in the United States to open its network to a broad range of EV drivers using a variety of e-mobility service providers (eMSPs). EV drivers will have greater freedom to use web-based or mobile apps of their choice to discover, locate, charge, and pay on the EVCS network.

With almost 700 AC Level 2 and DC Fast chargers and plans to double in size in 2023, EVCS offers drivers an expansive network of fast, reliable, affordable, and conveniently located chargers across California, Oregon and Washington. This includes strategic placements along the West Coast Electric Highway’s Interstate 5 and Highway 101, urban centers, and underserved and rural communities. On the heels of its $68.8M Series-A raise last year, the company is accelerating its expansion into new cities and is increasing its charger density in existing communities.

By joining Hubject’s Intercharge platform, EVCS commits to strong collaboration with eMSPs to provide their customers with open access to the EVCS charging network. Hubject will enable EVCS to offer best-in-class roaming services, including integrated location discovery and in-app payments. With the added ability to serve a wider range of drivers using various EV charging apps across all vehicle makes and models, EVCS is further advancing its mission to accelerate EV adoption through increased public charging accessibility, convenience and simplicity.

“As more drivers adopt EVs, the industry needs better solutions to enable easier, faster, and more equitable access to public EV charging. Drivers want a hassle-free charging experience, without the need for too many requirements to access a charger. Roaming through Hubject’s Intercharge platform allows EVCS to meet the EV drivers’ needs more effectively, by granting eMSPs full access to one of the largest CPOs on the West Coast,” states Gustavo Occhiuzzo, CEO of EVCS. “Roaming is a key ingredient for a successful future of public EV charging, enabling innovative business models between CPOs and eMSPs as well as flexible pricing options for drivers. That’s a vision that EVCS and Hubject share together”, said Karim Farhat, Vice President of Partnerships at EVCS.

“We are honored that EVCS will be joining the Hubject Intercharge network, to improve the charging experience as the EV industry gets set to rapidly scale in North America. The partnership between Hubject and EVCS represents a significant commitment to all EV drivers regardless of the Mobility provider they choose to use.” said Trishan Peruma, CEO of Hubject North America.
